Set Default Printers for Visual-Eyes Printouts

Set Default Printers for Visual-Eyes Printouts

Configuring default printers for various Visual-Eyes printouts streamlines workflow by allowing each document type, such as invoices, prescriptions, and day sheets, to automatically use a dedicated printer. This eliminates manual printer selection each time a document is printed.

Prerequisites

  • The user configuring printouts must have the Change Local Settings permission.

  • Access to the VE Admin application, located in the VE7 folder.

  • At least one printer installed on the local computer.

Configuring User Permissions in VE Admin

To allow a user to assign default printers for printouts, you must grant the Change Local Settings permission.

  1. Log into VE Admin (located in the VE7 folder).

  1. Navigate to Owner > UserList under Office Settings.

  1. Locate the user who requires printer configuration ability.

  2. Assign the Change Local Settings permission.

  1. Click Save.

  2. Click Publish All in the bottom right of VE Admin.

  3. Close VE Admin.

  4. Completely close and restart Visual-Eyes on the user’s workstation for permission changes to take effect.

Selecting Default Printers in Visual-Eyes

Once permissions are assigned, configure default printers for specific printout types:

  1. Launch VE.exe and log in to Visual-Eyes.

  2. Navigate to Local Settings > Local Reports.

  1. Select the relevant screen for the printout type (for example: Invoices, Insurance Forms, Day Sheets, Appointment Labels).

  2. In the grid below, select the specific printout (such as invoice/receipts, split payments, insurance forms, day sheets, appointment labels).

  1. Use the Printer dropdown to assign a printer for that specific printout. If left blank, the printout will use the workstation's default printer.

  1. Repeat steps 3 to 5 for each printout type that requires a dedicated printer.

  2. Close and reopen Visual-Eyes if any printers are added or altered on the local computer, as changes are recognized only upon program restart.

Common Issues

Issue: Newly installed printer does not appear in the printer dropdown
Fix: Visual-Eyes loads the list of printers at program startup. To detect and assign a newly installed printer, close and restart Visual-Eyes.
