If a patient has a very similar first and last name, they may appear twice when you search for them. Their name could be listed as "First Last Name" and also as "Last, First Name". As shown in the example below, a search for "John J" may display the patient as both "John Johnson" and "Johnson, John."
If the patient does not have a similar first and last name then please follow the steps below to merge their records.
1. First, move the patient who is not already part of the Family to the Family of the other duplicate patient. To do this, go to the patient's profile and click the Change Family button. Then, search for the duplicate patient. To differentiate between the two records, refer to the "Last Visit" section, as only one will have a date listed. Once identified, click OK.
2. Then, you will need to ensure that the Date of Birth, First, middle, Alt and Last name are an exact match.
3. Click the Merge Patient button in the top section of Visual-Eyes.
4. Now, select one patient in the Patient #1 section and the other in the Patient #2 section. If any details do not match, this will be indicated on the right side under the Match? section. When all required information matches, the system will highlight the details that will be kept in blue. If you want to use what is listed in the other patient's file rather than what is highlighted, simply click to unhighlight what is selected, then click to highlight the desired information. Once everything is correct, select Merge to finalize.
