Turning On/Off Print Preview

Turning On/Off Print Preview

Visual-Eyes allows you to preview printouts and emails before they are sent. You can enable preview globally for all printouts and emails on your workstation, set preview for all printouts in a specific module, or enable preview for a single printout type.

Prerequisites

  • Access to the Main Family Screen in Visual-Eyes.
  • User account login credentials.

Enable Global Print and Email Preview

Use this method to enable preview for all printouts and emails on the workstation you are currently logged into. Any time you click Print or Email in Visual-Eyes, a preview will load before the document is printed or sent. Other users logged into the same work station will also see these changes.

  1. From the Main Family Screen, click Local Settings! in the top navigation bar. This is the sixth option from the left, located beside Change Password and Print Final Rx.
  2. Under the Reports header, locate the Global Print Preview and Global Email Preview check boxes.
  3. Check Global Print Preview to enable print previews.
  4. Optionally, check Global Email Preview to preview emails before they are sent.
  5. Close the Local Settings menu. No save action is required.

Tip: The top navigation bar on the Main Family Screen is small and grey, making it easy to overlook. Look for Local Settings! near the center of the bar.

Enable Preview for a Specific Module

Use this method to enable preview for all printouts within a specific Visual-Eyes module, such as the Invoice screen or Rx screen, without enabling preview globally.

  1. Navigate to the module where you want to enable print preview (for example, Invoice, Rx, or Patient screen).
  2. Right-click on the Print button.
  3. Check the box next to Preview in the context menu.

All printouts in that module will now display a preview before printing. For example, on the Invoice screen, both invoices and statements will preview. On the Rx screen, job orders will preview.

Enable Preview for a Single Printout Type

Use this method to enable preview for one specific printout type within a module, without enabling preview for all printouts in that module or globally.

  1. From the Main Family Screen, click Local Settings! in the top navigation bar.
  2. Under the Reports header, below the Global Print Preview and Global Email Preview check boxes, click Local Reports.
  3. In the Section drop-down list, select the module or area where your printout is located.
  4. In the list below, select the specific printout you want to preview.
  5. Check the box next to Preview.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Close the Local Settings menu.

Only the selected printout will display a preview before printing. Other printouts in the same module will print directly without preview unless separately configured.

Common Issues

Issue: Preview does not appear even after enabling Global Print Preview.

Fix: Verify that you enabled the setting on the correct workstation. Preview settings are workstation-specific and do not carry over between workstations.

Issue: Cannot find Local Settings! in the top navigation bar.

Fix: The top navigation bar on the Main Family Screen is small and grey. Look for Local Settings! as the sixth option from the left, beside Change Password and Print Final Rx. If still not visible, verify that you are on the Main Family Screen.

Issue: Preview setting does not persist after closing Visual-Eyes.

Fix: Preview settings in Local Settings save automatically when you close the menu (Global Preview) or when you click Save (Local Reports method). Module-specific preview settings (right-click method) also save automatically. If settings are not persisting, contact Visual-Eyes Support.
