If checked, the user will be prompted to clock out upon logout.
If unchecked, the user will stay clocked in upon logout.
If the user has been logged out but not clocked out for at least the Break Period time, and then logs back in, VE will ask if the user was on break. If they were, it will set the current entry’s status to OUT (its LOGOUT time will have already been set on logout) and then start a new TIMECLOCK entry starting now.
If you had left VE open and auto-logged-out, LOGOUT would be the last detected activity time which could be earlier than when auto-logout actually triggered the logout

> For timeclock does the break period setting automatically take the specified amount out of their clocked time?
It takes out the whole time they were away. The break period setting is the minimum time away before it asks if you were on break.
Each timeclock entry in the database has a LOGIN time, LOGOUT time, and STATUS field.
Upon clocking in, LOGIN is set to the current time and STATUS is set to IN. LOGOUT is left blank (null).
This setting keeps track of the last time there was mouse or keyboard input. If auto-logout triggers, the LOGOUT field of the active timeclock entry will be set to the time of the last input.
When the user logs back in, any pending entries with STATUS=IN are checked. If it’s LOGIN is still the same day, the clock-in session will be continued. If LOGIN was on a previous day, a snackbar notification will be shown and the STATUS will change to OUT. With the “User’s Last Activity Time” option, LOGOUT will be left at that last activity time. With the “Default time” Auto Clock-Out option, LOGOUT will be set to the “Default time” setting value below.
> What is the difference between auto clock out and auto log out? If you auto log out does it also clock out?
Auto log out is basically VE pressing Log Off by itself after some time idle.
Auto clock-out is about what happens if you don't clock out one day and then log in again on a later day. You wouldn't want to log overnight or a weekend as clocked in time, so it picks a clock-out time to set that left-open timeclock entry to.
Logging out, either manually or with auto logout, will update the LOGOUT field on the current timeclock entry, even if the status is still set to IN. Both breaks and auto clock out use that time to finish that entry if needed.
Logging out doesn't clock you out by itself. Although the "Prompt on Logout" setting will have it ask.
